It&#8217;s just another in the long list of idiotic conspiracy theories promulgated by science deniers and QAnon types.\u00a0<\/p><p>I conceived of the historical background for MagicLand before Covid-19 hit us. I guess as writers we could simply not write certain things when we see foolish conspiracy theories, but for one thing, I wasn&#8217;t aware of the conspiracy theory as I was working on the novel, and two, why should I let writing decisions be dictated by idiots?\u00a0<\/p><p>I trust my readers to be intelligent enough to not worry about such things. Life is hard enough when we don&#8217;t allow ourselves to be guided by peer-reviewed science.\u00a0<\/p><p>And so I will say that even if I had known about such nonsense as the &#8220;Plandemic&#8221;, I would not change the part of the novel where something like that sort of happens.\u00a0<\/p><p>If anything, the novel is much more of a warning about climate change than anything else.
